RoutFuel ("we," "us") helps you find the cheapest gas and EV charging nearby and plan road trips. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep data collection to what the app actually needs to work.
Information we collect
Location. With your permission, your device location is used to find nearby stations, estimate drive times, and build routes. Your coordinates are sent to our backend to run those searches; we do not continuously track or store your precise location history.
Account information. If you sign in (Google or Apple) to unlock Pro, we receive your email address and basic profile info to identify your account and subscription. Sign-in is optional — the app works as a guest.
Community submissions. If you report or confirm a fuel price, we store that price and the station's location so other drivers can benefit. Don't include personal information in submissions.
Trip inputs. Destinations and preferences you type for trip planning are sent to our AI provider to generate suggestions.
Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly — we never receive or store your full card number; we store only your subscription status and identifiers.
Usage & diagnostics. Standard technical data (e.g., request logs, app/version info) to operate, secure, and improve the service.
How we use information
Provide core features: find stations, show live and community prices, plan and route trips.
Manage your account and Pro subscription.
Maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information.
Third-party services
To deliver these features we share the minimum necessary data with trusted providers, each under their own terms:
Google Maps Platform & Gemini — live place/price data and AI trip suggestions (Google Privacy Policy).
We keep account and subscription data while your account is active. Community price reports are retained while they're useful and then expire. You can ask us to delete your account data (see Contact).
Your choices & rights
Turn location permission on or off anytime in your device settings (some features need it to work).
Use the app as a guest without signing in.
Request access to, or deletion of, your account data by contacting us.
Children
RoutFuel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
Billable API keys and secrets stay on our servers and never reach your device. We use industry-standard measures to protect data, though no method is 100% secure.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or on this site.
